1. The golden rules

• Never pay outside SecMart. Anyone asking you to “send it straight to my account” to skip fees is a red flag. Direct transfers can’t be refunded.
• Pay with escrow so your money isn’t released until you’ve inspected the item.
• Never share your pickup code with anyone but the agent at the Vault, and never let anyone “release” funds for you.
• Inspect before you release. Releasing the money can’t be undone.
• Keep conversations on SecMart where we can see the history if there’s a dispute.

2. Tips for buyers

• Check the seller’s Verified badge and whether the photos look like the real item, not stock images.
• Be wary of prices far below market value, and of sellers who rush you.
• At the Vault, test everything: power on, screen, battery, buttons, cameras, and check the serial or IMEI matches the listing.
• Use the whole inspection window. If anything is off, don’t release the money; open a dispute.

3. Tips for sellers

• Only hand the item over once you’re told the buyer’s money is secured. A screenshot of a bank alert is not proof of payment.
• Photograph the item clearly before you drop it off, including any marks.
• Don’t agree to meet the buyer elsewhere or accept payment outside SecMart.
• Never share the buyer’s details or your account password with anyone claiming to be “SecMart support”.

4. Common scam warning signs

• “Pay me directly, it’s cheaper” or “send a deposit to hold it”.
• Messages that pressure you to release funds early, or ask for your pickup or release code.
• Links to look-alike websites asking for your login or card details. SecMart staff will never ask for your password.
• “Overpayment” stories: someone pays too much and asks you to refund the difference.
• Items that “can only be shown after you pay”.

5. Report a scam or a problem

If you think you’ve been targeted, email hello@secmartng.com as soon as you can. Please include:

• your order reference (it looks like SM-XXXXXXXXXX) or the link to the listing;
• screenshots of messages and any payment receipts;
• the seller’s or buyer’s name and what happened, in order.

If it’s an active order, you can also open a dispute from your order page right away. If you’re in immediate danger or a crime has taken place, contact the Nigeria Police Force or your nearest emergency service first.
