How SecMart works

1. If you’re buying

1. Find an item and check the photos, grade and the seller’s Verified badge.
2. Choose how to pay. Escrow is recommended: your money is locked and the seller isn’t paid yet. You also choose which Vault to collect from.
3. The seller drops the item at the Vault. You’re emailed when it arrives and the Vault agent has checked it in.
4. Go to the Vault. Open your order to show your pickup code. The agent scans it and your 30-minute inspection starts.
5. Inspect, then decide. If it’s right, scan or enter the release code and the seller is paid. If it isn’t, don’t release it: open a dispute and your money stays frozen.
6. Warranty. For 72 hours after you release, you can still report a problem.

2. If you’re selling

1. Create an account and confirm your email, then list your item with honest photos and a fair price.
2. Wait for a buyer to pay. You’re only asked to deliver once their money is secured, so there’s no risk of a fake alert.
3. Drop the item at the chosen Vault whenever it suits you, then mark it as dropped off. No haggling over meet-up times.
4. Get paid when the buyer confirms. Your earnings appear as “in warranty hold”.
5. Withdraw. After 72 hours with no dispute, the money becomes available. Request a withdrawal to your bank account from your dashboard.

3. What’s a Vault?

A Vault is a partner filling station that acts as a safe, neutral handoff point: lit around the clock and camera-monitored. A Vault agent checks items in, checks buyers in, and scans the codes that move each order forward. See where they are on our Vault pickup points page.

4. The two codes

• Pickup code (the buyer’s): shown only to the buyer, scanned by the Vault agent to start the inspection.
• Release code (the agent’s): shown only to Vault staff, scanned by the buyer to release the money after inspecting.

Codes are never sent by email, and neither side can complete a payout alone. Never share your pickup code with anyone except the agent at the Vault.

5. Payment options

• Escrow (3.5% fee): fully protected, with refunds and a warranty.
• Cash at Vault Point (₦500 fee): inspect first, then pay cash at the station. Protection ends when you leave.
• Direct transfer: outside SecMart, with no protection. We advise against it.
